The Conveyor Electronic Control System electronically controls the conveyors and the augers which move asphalt material from the hopper for distribution across the back of the machine. The system includes various input switches and sensors, an Electronic Control Module (ECM), and various electro-hydraulic solenoid valves. The function of the ECM is to receive input from the operator selected functions, check the height of the asphalt pile, make control calculations and output control signals to the solenoids. The solenoids control the function and the speed of the conveyor and the auger motors.
The Conveyor Electronic Control System consists of two independent systems which are mirror images of each other. These systems are the left feeder system and the right feeder system. Each feeder system controls the material flow on their respective side of the machine. Each feeder system consists of the following: a pump, a conveyor, an auger, operator switches and dials at the operator station panel and at the screed station panel, a material height sensor (paddle or sonic) and the electro-hydraulic motor control solenoids. The ECM is the only common component for left feeder system and the right feeder system. The ECM is also used for system diagnostic and calibration functions.
