D379B, D398B & D399 GENRERATOR SET ENGINES Caterpillar

1. Remove six bolts (1) that hold cover (2) to housing.

2. Remove cover from housing.

3. Remove rotor (6), vanes (5) and springs from housing.

4. Remove nut (3) from the shaft.

5. Remove handle (4) from shaft.

6. Remove packing nut and packing from cover.

7. Remove shaft from cover.

8. Inspect the check valve at the oil pump.

Install Sump Pump

1. Make a replacement of the check valve if necessary.

2. Install shaft (7) in cover (2).

3. Install packing (6) and nut in cover.

4. Install handle (1) on shaft.

5. Install nut on shaft.

6. Install three carbon vanes (5), springs (3) and rotor (4) in the housing.

7. Install cover (2) with pin in shaft (7) engaged in rotor. Install six bolts.
