Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
  2. Remove the engine bottom guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Engine) - Remove and Install".

  1. Remove bolts (1), (2), (4), (5) and guard (3) .

  1. Release the tension and remove three V-belts (6) .

  1. Remove jam nut (10).

  1. Remove four bolts (12) .

  1. Remove shaft (11) from the engine.

  1. Remove locknut (7).

  1. Remove shock absorber (8) .

  1. Remove cotter pin (13). Remove the pin.

  1. Remove retainer (14) from shock absorber (8) .

  1. Remove bolt (15) and washer (16) that secures arm assembly (9) to shaft assembly (11) .

  1. Remove four bolts (17) that secure cover (19) to pulley (18). Remove cover (19) from pulley (18) .

  1. Remove bolt (20) and two washers (21) that secure pulley (18) to arm assembly (9) .

  1. Pack roller bearing (27) (not shown) with Tooling (B). Use Tooling (A) in order to install roller bearing (27) (not shown) into pulley (18) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) to install lip seal (26). Install seal (26) with the lip of the seal towards the outside of pulley (18) .

  1. Position cover (19) to pulley (18). Install four bolts (17) that secure cover (19) to pulley (18) .

  1. Install retainer (14) to shock absorber (8).

  1. Install the pin and install cotter pin (13) .

  1. Install shock absorber (8) to the engine.

  1. Install locknut (7) that secures shock absorber (8) to the engine.

  1. Install shaft assembly (11). Install four bolts (12) that secure shaft assembly (11).

  1. Install nut (10) that secures arm assembly (9) .

  1. Release the tension and install three V-belts belts (6) .

  1. Install guard (3), bolts (1), (2), (4) and (5) .

End By:

  1. Install the engine bottom guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Engine) - Remove and Install".
  2. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
