    NOTICE

Push the wiper arm assembly straight onto the tapered shaft. If the wiper arm assembly is not installed straight when the shaft turns, the splines will be improperly formed and damage will occur.

    NOTICE

Do not operate the wiper motor before the wiper arm assembly is installed.

A new wiper motor is preset in the parked position. If the wiper motor is operated before installation of the wiper arm assembly, misalignment will occur. This can cause damage to the wiper motor, the wiper arm assembly, and/or the window.

Do not manually rotate the wiper arm assembly on the shaft.

  1. Position wiper arm assemblies (28) on the tapered shafts at 30 ± 1 degrees to the left of the vertical centerline. Install the lock washers and nuts (27). Hand tighten the nut on the shaft. If the wiper arm assembly is not positioned correctly, remove the wiper arm assembly from the shaft and reposition the wiper arm assembly.

  1. Tighten nuts (27). The torque for the nut is 24 ± 1 N·m (18 ± 1 lb ft).

Wait for at least one hour. Then, torque nut (14) again to 24 ± 1 N·m (18 ± 1 lb ft). Do not wait for more than four hours.
