Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Ensure that the machine and the work tool is parked on a level surface prior to starting the following procedure. Ensure that the hydraulic lockout that is on the machine is in the LOCKED position.
Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine. To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps. Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on. |
Note: Put identification on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This will help in order to prevent fluid loss. This helps in order to keep contaminants from entering the system.
- Release the system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release" for more information.
- Remove nut (1) and washer (2) from bolt (3) .

- Remove bolt (3) from grapple arm (4) .
- Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting device to grapple arm (4) in order to lift grapple arm (4) .
- Remove cylinder pin (5) from grapple arm (4) .

- Remove nut (6) and washer (7) from pivot pin (8) .

- Remove nut (10) and washer (11) from bolt (9) .

- Remove bolt (9) from grapple arm (4) .
- Remove pivot pin (12) from grapple arm (4) .

- Remove the grapple arm from the felling head by using a hoist and a suitable lifting device. The grapple arm assembly weighs approximately 220 kg (485 lb).
