Procedure To Stop Oil Leaks From Around Engine Breather Cover

Usage:

SKID STEEL LOADERS

WHEEL LOADERS

216 (4NZ),
226 (5FZ),
228 (6BZ),
236 (4YZ),
246 (5SZ),
248 (6LZ) SKID STEER LOADERS;
906 (6ZS) WHEEL LOADERS

Problem:

The breather cover (2), which is located on the valve cover (1)on the 3034 Engines in these machines, may allow an oil leak. See Illustration 1.

Solution:

Use the following procedure to help prevent oil leaks from around the breather cover.

Carefully remove the self-tapping screws (3) that fasten the breather cover (2) to the valve cover (1). An impact screw driver may be required to remove the screws. Replacement screws are available as 153(0117 Screws.

Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces of the breather cover and valve cover. Apply a 2 mm thick bead of 8T(9022 RTV Silicone (Blue) General Purpose Sealant to the surface of the breather cover that contacts the valve cover. See Illustration 2. Be sure the vent hole in the breather cover is not blocked.

Install the breather cover (2) on the valve cover (1) with four screws (3).
