NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS8784" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the September 9, 1996 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product.

Certain four turbocharger arrangements of the 3516 Generator Set rated for 50 Hertz operation can have higher than normal exhaust temperatures when operating under normal conditions. Arrangement numbers 4P4444, 6I2939, 1077346 and 1077350 at 1500 RPM are affected.

Parts Needed
- 4 - 1358827 Housing - Turbine
Action Required
Replace the current 1193686 Turbocharger Turbine Housing with the new 1358827 Turbine Housing.
NOTE: For generator sets that have ratings other than those offered in the Engine Price List (those which have special ratings request), the dealer must contact Caterpillar Large Engine Center, 3500 Customer Service for approval before administering this Program.
