Problem
The 7E2491 Adapter used in the 7E1699 Valve Group may break due to bending fatigue. When this adapter breaks the Kiene Valve may separate from the engine due to the pressure contained by the valve.

Rework Procedure
NOTE: These instructions provide methods and procedures for removing the 7E2941 Kiene Valve Adapter and installing the 7C7076 Valve Group-Manual.
Removing Adapter
1. During engine operation the threads of the adapter will adhere (stick) to the threads in the cylinder head. With the engine running at normal operating temperatures, or immediately after the engine has been shutdown, use the appropriate tooling to tighten the adapter a few degrees of rotation to break the threads loose.
2. After tightening a few degrees of rotation, loosen the adapter a turn.
3. Follow Steps 1 and 2 for all adapters that need to be removed. Make sure the engine is shut down before removing the adapter from the cylinder head.
Installing a 7C7076 Valve Group Manual
1. Make sure the threads in the cylinder head are clean and free of burrs. Use a -14 NPTF tap (5P5534) to chase the threads.
2. Apply 4C5598 High Temperature Anti-Seize to the threads in the cylinder head.
3. Thread the 7C7077 Valve into the cylinder head. Tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft). If the valve is not accessible, continue to tighten (See Illustration 1). Do not exceed 135 N·m (100 lb ft) of torque or thread damage may be the result. If the valve cannot be positioned as shown in the Illustration within the specified torque range, then try a different valve.
4. Make sure the valve is turned off by turning the stem in a counterclockwise direction to a torque of 24 ± 4 N·m (18 ± 3 lb ft).
5. Install the 7W2656 Cap and tighten to 17 ± 3 N·m (13 ± 3 lb ft).
