NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI1316" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI1316" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Problem

Certain 3306 Generator Sets need to have the optional water separator connections removed from the fuel transfer pump outlet and connected to the inlet side so it will not develop a pressurized leak.

Action Required

1. Remove the 9K7637 Fuel Inlet and 2W4331 Fuel Outlet Hose Assemblies from the 1121171 Water Separator Group, and discard them.

2. Remove the water separator from the front of the mounting bracket and install it on the rear face of the bracket, keeping the fuel outlet at the top.

3. Remove the 6V2611 Drain Valve Fitting and the 9S8003 Plug from the opposite sides of the separator base. Install the drain valve in the hole the plug came from and install the plug where the drain valve was removed. Install a new 1J9671 O-Ring Seal on the valve and the plug. Torque to 15 ± 3 N·m.

4. Remove the 6V2611 Vent Valve Fitting and the 8K0968 Fuel Inlet Elbow. Install the vent valve where the elbow was located, and install the elbow where the valve was located. Install a new 1J9671 O-Ring Seal on each. Tighten to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m. Leave the inlet elbow pointing down.

5. Route the fuel inlet hose from the tank and connect it to the 8K0968 Inlet Elbow.

NOTE: In some applications the fuel inlet hose may need to be a longer hose.

6. Install a 0307947 Elbow and a 3J1907 O-Ring Seal in the top of the fuel filter base. Install the 4W9057 Fuel Line from the transfer pump discharge to the fuel filter inlet. Tighten to a torque of 25 ± 5 N·m.

ACTION REQUIRED CONT.

7. Connect the steel end of the 3N8097 Hose Assembly to the outlet elbow at the top of the water separator. Tighten to a torque of 25 ± 5 N·m. Connect the other end to the inlet side of the fuel priming pump with a 9J6190 Union, a 3K0360 O-Ring Seal, and a 0054362 Elbow.

8. Start and run the engine. Check for tightness and leakage.
