Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs. A person must be alert to potential hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools to perform these functions properly.
Improper operation, lubrication, maintenance, or repair of this product can be dangerous and could result in injury or death.
Do not operate or perform any lubrication, maintenance, or repair on this product until you have read and understood the operation, lubrication, maintenance, and repair information.
Safety precautions and warnings are provided in this manual and on the product. If these hazard warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons.
The hazards are identified by the "Safety Alert Symbol" and followed by a "Signal Word" such as "DANGER","WARNING", or "CAUTION". The Safety Alert "WARNING" label is shown below.
A non-exhaustive list of operations that may cause product damage are identified by "NOTICE" labels on the product and in this publication.
Caterpillar cannot anticipate every possible circumstance that might involve a potential hazard. The warnings in this publication and on the product are, therefore, not all inclusive. If a tool, procedure, work method, or operating technique that is not recommended by Caterpillar is used, the operator must be sure that the procedures are safe. The operator must also be sure that the product will not be damaged or made unsafe by any unspecified procedures.
The information, specifications, and illustrations in this publication are based on information that was available at the time that the publication was written. The specifications, torques, pressures, measurements, adjustments, illustrations, and other items can change at any time. These changes can affect the service that is given to the product. Obtain the complete and most current information before you start any job.
When replacement parts are required for this product, Caterpillar recommends using Cat replacement parts or parts with equivalent specifications including, but not limited to, physical dimensions, type, strength, and material.

Introduction
All operators of the Crimputer III 358-4535 (C3) and 457-6030 (C3-290) should read and become familiar with this manual. The C3 and C3-290 are microprocessor-based controllers, which contain a database of hose and coupling types and sizes. The 457-6030 C3-290 is the new replacement kit used on the Cat Legacy Crimper (CLC290).Crimping specifications and tolerances are also included for comparison to the measured values, which can be measured at the completion of the crimp. The C3 and C3-290 will adjust the controlling numbers (DVDT) to compensate for wear or other discrepancies. The C3 and C3-290 is compatible and can be replaced with part numbers 358-4532, 457-6037, 457-6038, 423-4361. For more information on compatibility, contact Dealer Service Tools (DST).

Create a new user so the user can log on under the user designation in runtime. After the project has been transferred as an alternative, the users can be changed and created with the User View in runtime. Logon is only successful if the user designation entered during logon agrees with the user in runtime. In addition, the password entered at logon has to agree with the password of the user.
Note: The user designation must be unique within the project, or the input is not accepted.
Note: In order for a created user to have authorizations, the user has to be assigned to a user group, and allocate authorizations to the user group. Currently, user groups 9 and 1 are the only user groups available.
The following options are available for the range of changes that can be made:
- The administrator, or a user with user administration authorization, can change the data for all users on the C3 and C3-290 system in the user view: User Name, Group Assignment, Password, and Logoff Times.
- A user without user administration authorization can only change the user data: Password and Logoff time.
Note: An additional dialog will be displayed when you alter a password. The input of the password is concealed.
- Click on an empty line in the "Name" column on the "Users" table.
Note: Use only alphanumeric characters and space characters for user names.
- Enter "Foreman" for the user designation.
