When a valid password has been entered, the "Op. Params." menu displays several groups of operating parameters that can be used to configure the UPS. These parameters will vary according to the firmware that is installed on each individual unit.

ATS Command Level     | 0     | 100     | 0     | Yes     | The "ATS Command Level" parameter is a system (flywheel) % energy setting that controls when the ATS transfer command is given via a remote output relay. The four conditions that must exist to set this bit: UPS in discharge, UPS in discharge for more than 1 second, UPS not in walk-in, and System % energy < ATS Command Level. ( A typical setting is 85%.) Full load testing is recommended to insure sufficient generator start times.     | Service     |
Auto Load and Start     | 0     | 2     | 1     | Yes     | The "Auto Load and Start" parameter defines what the UPS will do automatically when power is applied to it after a complete outage. 0 = The UPS will require manual intervention to get the UPS in bypass and online. 1[default] = The UPS will require manual intervention to get the UPS on-line. Bypass Break Duration     | 0     | 30     | 2     |     | When a break-before-make transition occurs, the "Bypass Break Duration" parameter controls the amount of time that no voltage will be applied to the load. The closing time of the bypass contactor or breaker is not taken into account in this timer.     | Service     |
Bypass Range Checking     | 0     | 2     | 2     | Yes     | The "Bypass Range Checking" parameter is valid only on UPS's with system cabinets: 0 = off, 1 = on with full messages, 2 = on with message suppression during discharge. When "ON" the UPS will compare output to the bypass source before making a transition. This check is ONLY performed when a transition to bypass is made. Once the UPS is in bypass, this parameter has no function. The items checked are bypass voltage (+/-10%), frequency difference (0.5Hz), and phase difference (15 degrees).     | Service     |
DC Bus Hi Trip Offset     | 10     | 200     | 70     |     | If the DC bus rises above the DC Bus Voltage setpoint plus this number, the UPS will go into discharge.     | Service     |

Def. Data Log Rate     | 1     | 7200     | 3600     | Yes     | The "Def. Data Log Rate" parameter sets the time in seconds that the telemetry will be sent to the UPSView data log files if a computer is connected. When the UPS is discharging, the log rate is the maximum (two samples per second).     | Set.     |
Disable +-15V PS Check     | 0     | 1     | 0     |     | The "Disable +-15V PS Check" parameter disables the 15 VDC power supply checking. Newer APCs have some enhanced power supply checks. This check may need to be disabled on older APCs.     | Service     |
Disch Min. Byp-Inp Lock     | 0     | 100     | 30     |     | The "Disch Min. Byp-Inp Lock" parameter is valid only on UPS's with dual inputs: If the flywheel energy falls below this level when the input returns and the UPS is synchronized to the Bypass source, the output of the UPS will stay synchronized to the bypass source and exhaustively discharge. No interruption to the output will occur.     | Service     |
Frequency Slew Rate     | 0.05     | 2     | 1     | Yes     | The "Frequency Slew Rate" parameter controls the speed in which the UPS output voltage will be brought in-phase (phase match) with the input to begin the process of ending a discharge (walk-in).     | Service     |
Gen Set Dis.Volt. Match     | 0     | 1     | 1     | Yes     | When the UPS is ready to start a walk-in from a discharge and the "ON Generator" signal from a remote input is high, it will match the input and output voltages before closing the main static switch. If this parameter is set to 0 it will not. Instead it will maintain the Nominal Voltage setpoint throughout the walk-in.     | Service     |
Gen Set Max. Current     | 10     | 400     | 400     | Yes     | The "Gen Set Max. Current" parameter sets the maximum input current while the "ON Generator"signal from a remote input is high (closed). This parameter could be used with GS Max. Mtr In Current to prevent a generator overload when the generator rating smaller than the UPS. A successful installation involving an undersized generator requires the transient response of the generator to be very good.     | Service     |
Gen Set Transient Tol     | 1     | 50     | 25     | Yes     | The "Gen Set Transient Tol" parameter sets the Transient VAC Tolerance while the "ON Generator" signal from a Remote Input is high (closed).     | Service     |
Gen Set Walk-in Rate     | 10     | 750     | 85     | Yes     | The "Gen Set Walk-in Rate"parameter sets the Walk-in Rate while the "ON Generator" signal from a remote Input is high. If this walk-in rate is set too high, the generator voltage can sag or slow down in frequency, causing the input voltage to be disqualified and the UPS to go back into discharge before the walk-in is complete.     | Service     |
Genset Motoring Delay     | 0     | 120     | 0     | Yes     | The "Genset Motoring Delay" parameter sets the amount of time the controller will wait after the walk-in before it will start motoring the flywheel. (MMS) This parameter must be set in each MMU. This parameter can also be a different value in each MMU.     | Service     |
Genset Start Level     | 0     | 100     | 0     |     | The "Genset Start Level" parameter is a system (flywheel) % energy setting that controls when the generator start command is given via a remote output relay. Caterpillar recommends that the ATS Command relay be used to accomplish this function.     | Service     |
Genset Stop Delay     | 10     | 600     | 60     |     | After the flywheel is at speed and the UPS is being powered from the utility, the remote output relay will de-energize after this time delay. (seconds)     | Service     |
GS Max Motor Current     | 10     | 400     | 200     | Yes     | The "GS Max Motor Current" parameter sets the maximum motor current while the "OnN Generator" signal from a remote input is high (closed). A smaller number will reduce the step unload that occurs at the end of flywheel motoring. This reduction is useful on generators with poor transient performance. This parameter should not be set to 0 and be greater than the minimum motoring current.     | Service     |

GSC Current Limit Hys     | 1     | 94     | 10     |     | Once the GSC current limit is reached, the controller will not turn the Genset start IGBTs back on until the current has fallen below the GSC current limit minus the GSC current limit hysteresis.     | Service     |

Hard Grounded System     | 0     | 1     | 1     |     | The "Hard Grounded System" parameter is set to 0 when the power distribution system feeding the UPS has a Neutral grounding resistor. (This option has never been implemented.)     | Service     |
Input Over Volt Trip     | 1     | 10     | 10     | Yes     | The "Input Over Volt Trip" parameter sets the percent deviation above the Nominal Voltage setpoint in which the system will disqualify the input voltage and the system will enter into discharge.     | Service     |

Internal CAN Enable     | 0     | 1     | 1     |     | The Internal CAN Enable parameter enables the CAN network. This parameter must be turned on in Multi Module [flywheel] Systems (MMS).     | Service (Hidden)     |
Internal CAN Node ID     | 1     | 0x0e     | 0x01     |     | The "Internal CAN Node ID" parameter is set to identify the MMU number. Each MMU requires a unique ID and should be numbered sequentially 1 to the total number of MMUs in the system.     | Service (Hidden)     |
KW Compare Setpt 1     | 0     | 1000     | 0     | Yes     | The "KW Compare Setpt 1" parameter sets the KW levels that will cause the output KW Remote Output to change states. Each setpoint must be at least 10KW apart in order for the output to work. Setting them to zero disables the function. The logic works as follows: 1) If setpoint 1 is less than setpoint 2, then the relay is energized when the output KW is less than setpoint 1 and de-energized when it goes back above setpoint 2. 2) If setpoint 1 is greater than setpoint 2, then the relay is energized when the output KW is greater than setpoint 1 and de-energized when it goes below setpoint 2. To energize relay: Output KW < setpoint 1 < setpoint 2, or Output KW > setpoint 1 > setpoint 2 Once energized, de-energize relay: Output KW < setpoint 2 < setpoint 1, or Output KW > setpoint 2 > setpoint 1     | Service     |

Angle Diff" is valid only on UPS's with system cabinets: If Bypass Range Checking is on, this sets maximum allowable phase angle difference between the output and bypass source before a transfer to bypass will be attempted..     | Service     |
Max. Mtring In Curr.     | 10     | 440     | 440     | Yes     | The "Max. Mtring In Curr." parameter sets the maximum input current per MMU when the UPS is motoring. If the input voltage (-10%) and load conditions (100% load, 0.8pf lag) exist such that the input current hits this number, the UPS will reduce the amount of voltage correction until the conditions change.     | Service     |

Min. Motoring Current     | 10     | 150     | 100     |     | Whenever the armature motoring current is reduced due to input or filter current limits, the "Min. Motoring Current" parameter is the minimum that the current will be reduced to.     | Service     |
MMU Serial Number     | 0     |     | 0     |     | The "MMU Serial Number" parameter is a unique number for each MMU that is set by manufacturing. Loading defaults will not change this number. This parameter should never be changed. If the parameter is set to 0, the ethernet option will not work.     | Service     |

Modbus TCP/2W/4W     | 0     | 2     | 0     | Yes     | The "Modbus TCP/2W/4W" parameter determines the Modbus type. 0 = TCP, 1 = 2W, 2 = 4W The TCP type must have the Network option enabled. The 2W/4W types must use the newer SIOD (30126-2) and have its JMPA (on SIOD) in the RS485 position.     | Service     |

Monitor S/W Baud Rate     | 38400     | 38400     | 38400     |     | The "Monitor S/W Baud Rate" is the speed in which the UPS communicates serially with a laptop using UPSView.     | Set.     |
Motor Ramp Down Factor     | 0     | 10     | 5     | Yes     | The "Motor Ramp Down Factor" sets the rate in which the flywheel charging current will be reduced as the flywheel approaches full speed. This results in a several second (step unload) reduction in the charging power at the input of the UPS. This should minimize the chance of a generator overspeed at the end of motoring. Setting this parameter to a 0 will result in an ~3 cycle step unload of the charging power.     | Service     |
Motoring Bearing Force     | 100     | 650     | 250     |     | The "Motoring Bearing Force" parameter sets the amount of magnetic lifting force that is applied to the rotor of the flywheel when it is being motored.     | Service     |

Nominal Voltage     | 300     | 600     | 480     | Yes     | The "Nominal Voltage" parameter sets the target output voltage for the voltage regulator. The system will regulate to this value unless the conditions are such that the maximum input current or maximum filter current have been reached. In this case it will back off on the regulation to keep the input or filter current limits from being exceeded. This number is also used with parameters 6, 7, 97, & 98.     | Service     |
Output Over Volt Tol.     | 1     | 10     | 10     |     | The "Output Over Volt Tol." parameter sets the percent deviation above the Nominal Voltage setting at which the system will disqualify the output voltage and go to bypass. Transient VAC Tolerance     | 1     | 50     | 15     | Yes     | Sets the percent deviation from the prevailing input voltage in which the system will disqualify the input voltage and enter into discharge. Lowering this parameter causes the system to enter into discharge on small events and improves the output transient performance. Increasing this parameter decreases the likelihood that the system will enter discharge on utility noise events.     | Service     |
Under Frequency Trip     | 45     | 60     | 58     | Yes     | Sets the minimum input frequency for which the system will remain in Line Mode operation. Below this frequency, the system will enter discharge. A step load on a generator may cause the generator to slow down below this level. This is the maximum frequency which the load will be exposed to unless the system transitions to a bypass source at a higher frequency.     | Service     |
UPS Net Enable     | 0     | 1     | 1     |     | Enables the UPS network. It must be turned on in Multi Module Systems (MMS) or system with a system cabinet. It must be turned OFF in an SMS.     | Service (Hidden)     |
Walk-in Rate     | 10     | 750     | 85     | Yes     | Sets the rate in which the real part (KW) of the load is transferred from flywheel to the input when the system is transitioning from Discharge mode to Online mode. This rate is used at the system level regardless of the number of MMUs. A fast Walk-in Rate can result nuisance trips back into discharge during the Walk-in due to a sagging input voltage.     | Service     |
Xtra Disch. VAC Tol.     | 0     | 50     | 10     |     | Sets the % tolerance that is added to the Transient VAC Tolerance (or the Gen Set Transient Tol.) after the UPS goes into discharge. It is removed 1s after the flywheel starts motoring.     | Service     |

- To change any parameter, select the operating group (parameter) from the list that is shown in illustration 1.
- Enter the new value in the "Request Operating Parameter Change" window.
Refer to the example in illustration 2.
- Click on "Send".
