(1) Torque for the mounting bolts for the final drive ... 750 ± 90 N·m (553 ± 66 lb ft)
(2) Rubber toric seals and all of the surfaces that contact the seals must be clean and dry before assembly. Apply a thin oil film to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings prior to assembly. Seal rings must be assembled square with the bore. The seal rings must not be bulging and the seal rings must not be twisted. Put lubricant on all other seals at assembly.
(3) All pipelayers are low ground pressure (LGP) machines. These machines have an inner spindle that is wider than the standard Track-Type Tractor. Both types of machines have the same specifications and installation procedures.
(5) Torque for 15 bolts ... 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft)
(6) Torque for 29 bolts ... 430 ± 60 N·m (317 ± 44 lb ft)
(7) Torque for six bolts ... 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft)
(8) Torque for the plug ... 105 ± 10 N·m (77 ± 7 lb ft)
(9) Torque for the sprocket bolts
- Lubricate the bolts and the washers with SAE 30W oil. Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 300 ± 50 N·m (221 ± 37 lb ft)
- Tighten the bolts further. ... 120°
- Minimum torque after 120° turn ... 570 N·m (420 lb ft)
- Tighten the bolts further. ... 120°
Note: Be sure that there is metal to metal contact between retainer (4) and spindle (3) before the bolts are tightened.
