Introduction
If this cylinder head is to be installed on a 3116 Truck Engine and operating temperatures BELOW -9.5°C (15°F) are expected, it is recommended that the exhaust valve stem seals be REMOVED from cylinders #2 thru #5 and REPLACED with 9Y-7355 Valve Spring Seats.
This exchange will REDUCE the possibility of exhaust valve sticking in cold weather operation.
NOTE: The removed (original) cylinder head must be inspected to determine if 9Y-7355 Valve Spring Seats were installed.
If the 9Y-7355 Valve Spring Seats are NOT present in the removed cylinder head they do NOT need to be installed in the replacement cylinder head if the engine is to be operated in the same temperature environment.
