NOTICE |
---|
The brake will drag if the auxiliary system pressure drops below 8613 kPa (1250 psi). Do not engage the parking brake while the machine is moving unless an emergency exists. The use of the parking brake as a service brake in regular operation will cause rapid wear to the brake pads. |

ON - Push the knob downward in order to apply the parking brake. When the parking brake is applied, the propel system automatically goes to NEUTRAL. |
Note: The propel lever should be in NEUTRAL position when the parking brake is applied. The propel lever must be in NEUTRAL position in order to release the parking brake.
OFF - Pull the knob upward in order to release the parking brake when the engine is running. The propel lever must be in the NEUTRAL position in order for the parking brake to be released. |
Note: If the engine is not running or the hydraulic system pressure drops below 8613 kPa (1250 psi), the brake will automatically be applied.
CMS Display for Operator Errors of Parking Brake
The following operator errors will result in a flashing operator error on the Caterpillar Monitoring System panel:
- The operator applies the parking brake when the propel lever is not in the NEUTRAL position.
- The propel lever is moved out of the NEUTRAL position while the parking brake is applied.
- The operator releases the parking brake when the propel lever is not in NEUTRAL.
