ARC - Replace
Before you replace the Automatic Retarder Control (ARC), make sure that it is absolutely necessary. The ARC is seldom the cause of a fault.
Check that power is available to the ARC. Battery voltage is required between contact 1 and contact 2 (connector "A"). Check the connectors for damage.
- Turn the battery disconnect switch and the engine start switch to the OFF position.
- Disconnect connector "A" and connector "B" from the ARC.
- Remove the ARC from the machine.
- Install the new ARC.
- Connect connector "A" and connector "B" to the ARC.
- Turn the battery disconnect switch and the engine start switch to the ON position. Make sure that the ARC successfully completes the self test.
