Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components. At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. |
- Drain the oil from the engine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".
- Put identification on all hose assemblies and cable assemblies for installation purposes.
- Install caps and plugs on all connections in order to prevent system contamination.
- Remove the top 15 bolts (1) and the washers from guard (2). Leave the remaining four bolts.

- Attach Tooling (A) to guard (2). Position a lifting sling on Tool (A). Secure the lifting sling to a suitable hoist. Remove the remaining four bolts (1) and the washers. Remove guard (2) from the machine. The weight of guard (2) is 22 kg (49 lb).

- Disconnect cable assembly (3). Disconnect hose assembly (4) .

- Remove three bolts (5) and the washers that hold baffle assembly (6) to the frame assembly.

- Remove baffle assembly (6) from the frame assembly.
- Disconnect hose assembly (7) from the pump.

- Disconnect cable assembly (8) from the pump.
- Position a lifting sling to the electric drive pump, as shown. Fasten the lifting sling to a hoist.

- Disconnect cable assembly (9) from the electric hydraulic pump motor.

- Remove four bolts (10) and the washers. Remove the electric drive pump from the frame assembly. The weight of the electric drive pump is 26 kg (57 lb).
