Release Procedure
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. |
- Move the machine to a location that is smooth, level and hard. The location should also be dry and free of debris.
- Release the accelerator pedal in order to stop the machine.
- Move the direction selector switch to the NEUTRAL position.
- Press the parking brake switch in order to apply the parking brake. This will also lower the ladder. Stop the engine.
- Depress the brake pedal repeatedly. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the braking system.
Note: Turn the engine start switch key to the ON position before performing step 6 and step 7. After completing step 6 and step 7, turn the engine start switch key back to the OFF position.
- Move the implement control levers several times through the full range of travel. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the implement hydraulic system.
- Turn the steering wheel several times in both directions in order to relieve the pressure in the steering system.
- Push in the plunger for the hydraulic tank breaker relief valve until all pressure is released.
Note: If the machine is not equipped with a hydraulic tank breaker relief valve, the hydraulic tank cap may be removed slowly in order to relieve tank pressure.
