Drive and Steering Axle (Rear) - Remove
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the rear tires and wheels. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Tires & Wheels (Rear) - Remove and Install".
- Remove two brackets (3) for the front of the drive shaft. Remove four bolts (4) from the rear of the drive shaft.

- Remove 2 bolts (16) and pin (17) in order to remove parking brake assembly (18) .

- Remove 2 hydraulic hoses (11) from rear steering cylinder (12) .

- Remove 2 hydraulic hoses (13) from the top of the axle.

- Remove 2 bolts (14) from bracket (15) for the manifold. Repeat for the other side of the bracket for the manifold.
Note: Be sure to support the manifold and the bracket.

- Disconnect the wire for the sensor for the rear steer.
Note: The wire is located in the area of the pointer.

- Position a suitable hydraulic jack (19) under the rear axle.

- Remove 4 nuts (20), the washers, and the plate. Repeat for the other side.

- Use a suitable lifting device in order to move the axle.
Note: The axle weighs approximately 500 kg (1102 lb).

- Place the axle on a suitable table.
Use suitable tie-downs in order to secure the axle.

- Remove bracket (21) for the parking brake.

- Remove 3 bolts (22). Remove cover (23) .

- Remove clip (25). Remove pin (26) and washer (27) .

- Remove 3 bolts (29) and the washers. Remove the sensor and bracket (28) .
