Lower transmission sight gauge

Before the engine is started and while the oil is cold, the oil must be in the GREEN RANGE of the lower transmission sight gauge.

Note: If the system has been drained, the engine must be stopped and oil must be added several times.

Upper transmission sight gauge

Use the upper transmission sight gauge as the final check. The oil must be at the "FULL" mark of the upper transmission sight gauge under the following conditions:

  • the truck is on level ground.

  • the oil is at the normal operating temperature.

  • the engine is running at low idle.

  • the transmission is in neutral.

  • while the truck is on level ground, idle the engine for a minimum of 5 minutes.
