Axle Shaft - Install
Installation Procedure

| A | 2P-8312 | Retaining Ring Pliers | 1 |
- Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.
- Position axle shaft (5) into the axle housing.

- Use a socket and extension in order to seat the axle shaft into the differential.

- Install sun gear (6) onto axle shaft (5) .
Note: The tire may be turned in order to fit the sun gear onto the axle shaft.

- Use Tooling (A) and install retaining ring (7) onto axle shaft (5) .

- Position cover (2) and the O-ring seal onto final drive (4) and install bolts (3) . Install drain plug (1) .

- Check the oil level of the final drive. Add oil, if necessary. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil Level -Check".
