Description of Change: A new modification is used after the installation of the bushing into the damper for the harvester head or for the grapple. The procedure is necessary to ensure that the grease is able to reach the inside of the bearing.

Adaptable To: The new procedure is adaptable to first production of the listed machines.

Installation Procedure for the Wheel Harvester

1. Refer to Service Manual module, RENR3007, "Disassembly and Assembly, HH45, HH55, HH65, HH75 Harvester Head", "Damper - Remove" for instruction on removing the damper.

2. Press 162-8715 Bushings (1) into the damper housing.

3. Remove two grease fittings (2) from the damper housing.

4. Place the pin into the bushing and use a center punch to mark the center of holes (3). Remove the pin.

5. Secure the damper in a suitable clamp and use a drill press to drill the holes. Be sure not to damage the threads for the grease fittings. Drill a 5 mm (0.2 inch) hole (3) in each 162-8715 Bushing.

6. Remove any burrs.

7. Refer to Service Manual module, RENR3025, "Disassembly and Assembly, 554 Forwarder and 574 Forwarder Machine Systems", "Grapple Rotator - Remove" for instruction on removing the damper.

8. Press 162-8715 Bushings (4) into the damper housing.

9. Remove grease fitting (5) from the damper housing.

10. Place the pin into the bushing and use a center punch to mark the center of hole (6). Remove the pin.

11. Secure the damper in a suitable clamp and use a drill press to drill the hole. Be sure not to damage the threads for the grease fitting. Drill a 5 mm (0.2 inch) hole (6) into the 162-8715 Bushings.

12. Remove any burrs.
