Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Install

Installation Procedure

    Note: Make sure that all mounting surfaces are clean prior to installation.

    Typical Example

  1. Fasten a suitable retainer around the axle, around front axle support (5) and around yoke (6). This will prevent the front axle support and the yoke from falling as the oscillating axle is being installed.

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting sling to each side of the oscillating axle, as shown. Fasten a hoist to both lifting slings. Raise the oscillating axle into position. The weight of the oscillating axle is 1225 kg (2700 lb).

  1. Install nuts (4) that hold front axle support (5) to the machine frame. The torque for nuts (4) is 475 ± 60 N·m (350 ± 45 lb ft).

  1. Install nuts (4) that hold rear axle support (3) to the machine frame. The torque for nuts (4) is 475 ± 60 N·m (350 ± 45 lb ft).

  1. Connect tube assembly (2) to rear axle support (3). Also connect the tube assembly to the front axle support.

  1. Connect hose assembly (1) to the oscillating axle.

  1. Fill the oscillating axle. The capacity of the oscillating axle is 36 L (10 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7018 for the correct procedure.

  1. Lubricate the front supports and the rear supports. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7018 for the correct procedure.

End By:

  1. Install the rear drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Rear) - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the rear tires and the rims. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Rear) - Remove and Install".
  3. Purge the air from the braking system. Refer to Testing and AdjustingSENR1387, "950G Wheel Loader and 962G Wheel Loader Braking System" for the correct procedure.
