The 8T-8666 Connector Kit allows the replacement of the speed sensor connector on transmission harnesses.

The 8T-8666 Connector Kit contains the following components:

Table 1
Item     Quantity     Part Number     Description
1     1     8T-8669     Harness Assembly
2     3     5P-0702     Shrinkable Tube
3     3     2H-2965     Wire Splice
4     3     5P-0562     Lockwire
5     -     8T-9029     Solder

This instruction gives the installation procedure for the connector kit.

  1. Cut the old connector off the transmission harness. Cut through all three wires 100 mm (4 inch) from the connector.

  1. Cut the black wire in the transmission harness 50 mm (2 inch) shorter than the orange wire. Cut the green wire in the transmission harness 100 mm (4 inch) shorter than the orange wire.

  1. Strip 5 mm (0.2 inch) of insulation from the end of each wire. Do not nick any strands of the wire. Use 8S-1075 Stripping and Crimping Tool.

  1. Slide one piece of shrinkable tube (2) over each of the wires in the transmission harness.

    Stripped Wires

  1. Use 9S-9150 Terminal Crimp Tool As or 8S-1075 Stripping and Crimping Tool in order to attach each of the wires in the transmission harness to the corresponding wires in the new harness assembly. Use a wire splice (3). Ensure that the orange wire (6), black wire (7) and green wire (8) are matched correctly.

Note: Crimp wire splice (3) once at each end.

    Soldering the Wire Splice

  1. Solder each wire splice (3) to the wires at both ends. Take care to place soldering gun (9) in firm contact with both wire (10) and wire splice (3), so that solder flows into joint (11).

  1. After the joints have cooled, slide the three shrinkable tubes (2) over the wire splices (3). Apply heat to the shrinkable tube in order to shrink the shrinkable tube around the wire and around the wire splice.

  1. Tape the spliced area firmly with 1P-0810 Electrical Tape.

  1. Fasten the connector to the speed sensor.

  1. Secure the connector nut to the eye on the plastic boot. Use lockwire (4) that is provided.
