Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Remove pressure plug (1) and drain fuel into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

- Use Tooling (A) to remove fuel filter (6) .

- Disconnect the sensor harness assembly from fuel temperature sensor (2) .
- Remove fuel temperature sensor (2) .
- Disconnect hose assembly (3). Plug all openings immediately.
- Remove bolts (4) .
- Remove fuel filter base (5) and the O-ring seals.
- Remove the mounting stud for the fuel filter from the fuel filter base, if necessary.
