Transmission Planetary and Transfer Gears - Install

  1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

  2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  3. Attach Tooling (B) to transmission (20). Fasten a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B) and to the transfer gears. Fasten the lifting device to a hoist.

  4. Install the transmission planetary and transfer gears. The weight of the transmission planetary and transfer gears is 1088 kg (2400 lb).

  5. Position two plates (22), as shown. Install two bolts (23) and the full nuts.

  6. Repeat Step 5 for the remaining side.

  7. Install the pin through the bracket. Install two bolts (21) and the plates into the bracket.

  8. Connect two hose assemblies (18) and (19) to the brake valve.

  9. Connect hose assembly (17) to the transmission. Install bolt (16) and the washer.

  10. Position wire harnesses (15), as shown. Connect wire harnesses (15) at the electrical connections. Position wire harnesses (15) into the clips. Position the hose assemblies, as shown. Install three bolts (14) and the washers.

  11. Use Tool (A) (not shown) in order to connect wire harness (13) to the manifold assembly. Insert lockwire (12) to the next hole in the clockwise direction.

  12. Use Tool (A) (not shown) in order to connect wire harness (10) to the speed sensor. Insert lockwire (11) to the next hole in the clockwise direction.

  13. Position wire harness (10), as shown. Install bolt (9) and the washer. Position guard (7), as shown. Install two bolts (8) and the washers.

  14. Connect hose assembly (6) to adapter (5).

  15. Connect two hose assemblies (3) and (4) to the transmission.

  16. Position guard assembly (2), as shown. Install four bolts (1) and the washers.

  17. Fill the torque converter with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7092, "Torque Converter Sump Oil - Change" for the correct procedure to fill the torque converter.

End By:

  1. Install the rear drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Rear) - Remove and Install".

  2. Install the front drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Front) - Remove and Install".
