Installation Procedure

1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

2. Position mounting plates (12) to the machine. Install eight bolts (16) and the washers that secure the plates to the truck body.

3. Install pin (14) and two bushings (15) to the arm assembly. Install thrust pad (13) to the pin.

4. Attach appropriate nylon lifting slings and a hoist to arm assembly (3). Position the arm to the machine. The weight of the arm is 163 kg (360 lb). Install bolt (10), disc (11), the washer, and the nut that secures the arm to mounting plate (12). Repeat this procedure for the other side of the machine.

5. Place two anchors (9) into position on the machine. Install six bolts (8) and the washers that secure two anchors to the equalizer arms.

6. Place two chains (7) into position. Install four bolts (6), the washers, and the nuts that secure the two chains.

7. Position two shock absorbers (5) to tailgate (1). Install four bolts (4) and the washers that secure the shock absorbers to the tailgate.

8. Attach appropriate nylon lifting slings and a hoist to tailgate (1). Position the tailgate to the machine. The weight of the tailgate is 353 kg (778 lb). Install 18 bolts (2) and the washers that secure the tailgate to two arm assemblies (3).
