------ WARNING! ------

Steering clutch and brake control linkage adjustments should be made only with the engine OFF. Accidental disengagement of the parking brake while the engine is running could cause sudden machine movement and personal injury.

Torque for all 3/8 inch locknuts that hold the rod ends in place on the rod ... 14 ± 4 N·m (10 ± 3 lb ft)

Torque for all 1/2 inch locknuts that hold the rod ends in place on the rod ... 45 ± 7 N·m (33 ± 5 lb ft)

Note: All rod assembly measurements must be made in a straight line between the centerlines of the rod end mounting holes.

Note: All of the 3/8 inch rods must engage the rod ends at a minimum depth of 14 mm (0.55 inch). All of the 1/2 inch rods must engage the rod ends at a minimum depth of 19 mm (0.75 inch) .

Procedure for the Adjustment of the Steering Levers and Linkages

  1. Disconnect rod assembly (B) or disconnect rod assembly (D) from lever (6) at the steering control valve.

Note: Rod assembly (B) is for the left steering clutch and rod assembly (D) is for the right steering clutch.

  1. Adjust bumper (5) so that the centerline of steering clutch lever (2) is the length of dimension (1) away from the front of the operator console.

  1. Pull lever (6) toward the front of the vehicle until the free movement stops and resistance is felt. Hold lever (6) in this position.

  1. Make an adjustment to rod assembly (B) or to rod assembly (D) in order to obtain a free fit of the pin in lever (6) .

  1. Perform the first four steps for the other side.

Procedure for the Adjustment of the Brake Pedal Linkage

  1. Disconnect rod assembly (C) from lever (7) at the steering control valve.

  1. Adjust the brake pedal to dimension (8) while the brake pedal is fully depressed. First, remove the brake pedal from the splined shaft. Then, move the brake pedal for the number of splines that are necessary in order to obtain dimension (8) .

  1. Adjust the spring to assembled length (4) .

  1. Pull lever (7) toward the front of the vehicle until resistance is felt. Hold lever (7) in this position.

  1. Make an adjustment to rod assembly (C) in order to obtain a free fit of the pin in lever (7) .

  1. Perform the first three steps for the other side.

Procedure to Adjust the Parking Brake Linkage

  1. Move parking brake lever (3) to the ON position.

  1. Install a pressure gauge with a 4000 kPa (600 psi) capacity on either brake pressure tap.

  1. Start the engine and run the engine at high idle.

  1. The pressure gauge must read a maximum of 70 kPa (10 psi). If the pressure is more than 70 kPa (10 psi), increase the length of rod assembly (A) and check the pressure again.

  1. Move parking brake lever (3) to the OFF position. The pressure gauge must register a minimum of 2760 kPa (400 psi). If the pressure reading is low, decrease the length of rod assembly (A) and check the pressure again.

  1. Stop the engine and remove the test equipment.
