Steering Clutch and Brake Control Valve - Disassemble

Usage:

583R 2XS

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the steering clutch and brake control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Clutch and Brake Control Valve - Remove".

    Note: Place identification marks on the five lever assemblies.

  1. Loosen the bolt and remove parking brake lever assembly (7) .

  1. Loosen the bolts and remove steering control lever assemblies (1) and (6) .

  1. Loosen the bolts and remove brake control lever (2) and (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (4) and remove plate (3) and the gasket from the control valve.

    NOTICE

    Place identification marks on all the parts of the valves. Do not mix any of the parts between valves during the disassembly and assembly procedure.


  1. Remove plugs (8) , spacers (9) , springs (10) , and spool assemblies (11) from the main valve body.

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from each plug (8) .

  1. Remove retaining ring (15) from spool assembly (11) . Remove washer (14) , spring (13) , and shims (12) from the spool assembly.

  1. Remove retaining ring (16) from spool assembly (11) . Remove plunger (18) , spring (17) , and ball (19) from the spool assembly.

  1. Repeat Steps7 and 8 and disassemble the remaining three spool assemblies (11) .

  1. Remove two bolts (24) and the washers.

  1. Remove bolt (21) and retainer (20) .

  1. Place identification marks on plungers (22) and (23) for assembly purposes. Remove the spring that is behind each of the plungers.

  1. Rotate shaft assembly (34) and remove bolt (25) and the washer. Remove lever assembly (32) and shaft assembly (34) .

  1. Rotate shaft assembly (29) and remove bolt (27) and the washer. Remove lever assembly (31) and shaft assembly (29) .

  1. Remove cup plugs (26) . The removal of these plugs will provide an access to the bolts that secure lever assemblies (30) and (33) to shaft assemblies (28) and (35) .

  1. Remove the bolt and the washer. Remove lever assembly (33) and shaft assembly (35) .

  1. Remove the bolt and the washer. Remove lever assembly (30) and shaft assembly (28) .

  1. Remove lock ring (36) and washer (37) from shaft assembly (34) . If necessary, remove key (41) from the shaft assembly.

  1. Remove retaining ring (38) , bearing (39) , and roller (40) from lever assembly (32) .

  1. Repeat Steps 18 and 19, and disassemble the remaining three shaft and lever assemblies.

  1. Remove four lip seals (45) and eight roller bearings (44) .

  1. Remove four bolts (42) and remove cover (43) and the gasket.

  1. Remove the bolt from lever (46) . Remove shaft (47) from lever (46) and remove the valve body. Remove lever (46) from the valve body.

  1. Remove lip seal (48) and the two bearings from the valve body.

  1. Remove seat (50) , valve (51) , spring (49) , and valve (52) from Location (X) on the bottom of the valve body. Remove the two O-ring seals from seat (50) .

  1. If necessary, carefully remove seat (53) from the valve body with a hammer and a punch.
