Power Train Oil Filter - Remove

Removal Procedure

Note: The power train oil filter is located on the right platform in front of the hydraulic tank.

    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Remove the plug that is located at the bottom of the power train oil filter. Drain the oil from the power train. Replace the plug after the oil has drained.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (3) from the power train oil filter.

  1. Put identification tags on two wires (2) and disconnect the wires from switch (1) .

  1. Remove four bolts (5) and the washers.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (6) from the side of the power train oil filter.

  1. Remove the power train oil filter (4) from the machine. The weight of the power train oil filter is 21 kg (46 lb).
