Personal injury can result from the track coming off of the roller frame. The track can move off the track roller frame very quickly when a separation of the track is made. Keep away from the front of the machine when the track is removed from the track roller frame. |
Personal injury can result from performing service on the track roller frame. Refer to Special Instruction, SMHS8273 for inspection and removal procedures before performing any service. |

- Remove four bolts (1) and the washers. Remove track adjuster cover (2). Remove the O-Ring seal from the cover.
- Use the following procedure to loosen the track.
- Turn relief valve (3) counterclockwise by one turn in order to permit grease to be released from the track adjuster. If the track does not loosen go to Step 2.b.
- Turn fill valve (4) counterclockwise by one turn in order to permit grease to be released from the track adjuster. If the track does not loosen, start the machine. Move the machine backward and move the machine forward. If the grease is not released go to Step 2.c.
- Install a piece of round bar stock between the bushing and the sprocket inside the links. Move the machine to the rear so that the track will be pushed up by the bar stock. The bar stock will put tension on the track and the track adjuster will move inward.

Grease is under high pressure. Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death. Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened. Loosen the relief valve only one turn. |
- Move the machine until master link (5) is just above the centerline of rear idler (8). Put wood blocks (9) under the track shoe grouser just below the master link. Move the machine to the rear until the track is in rigid contact with the wood blocks.

- Remove four bolts (6) and master track shoe (7). The master shoe weighs 28 to 34 Kg (61 to 75 lb). The weight of the track shoe will depend on the particular track shoe that is installed on the machine.
- Separate master link (5) .

- Fasten Tooling (A) and a cable to the end of the track. Fasten the other end of the cable to a wheel loader or a similar machine. Turn the final drive in a forward direction and allow track (10) to fall forward. Move the wheel loader or the similar machine forward with the track.

- Raise the side of the machine until the machine is clear of the track links. Remove the track. The weight of the track is approximately 3100 Kg (6830 lb).
