Radiator - Install

Usage:

D250E II 4PS

Installation procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) , nylon lifting slings and a hoist to radiator (5) .

  1. Install two sleeves (61) , two washers (62) and two rubber mounts (63) to the machine frame.

  1. Use the hoist and carefully install radiator (5) to the machine frame. The weight of the radiator is 139 kg (306 lb) .

  1. Install bolt (48) , washer (49) and rubber mount (50) to each side of the bottom end of the radiator.

  1. Install four bolts (47) and two access plates (46) to the lower radiator housing.

  1. Position relay assembly (57) to shroud (54) . Install four bolts (58) that secure relay assembly (57) to shroud (54) .

  1. Install wire strap (59) in order to secure wire assembly (60) to shroud (54) .

  1. Install bushing (55) and air conditioner hose (56) into the slot that is in shroud (54) .

  1. Install bushing (52) and air conditioner hose (53) into the slot that is in shroud (51) .

  1. Position tie bar (39) to the radiator. Install nut (42) , bolt (45) , spacer (43) and spacer (44) in order to connect the bottom end of tie bar (39) to radiator (5) .

  1. Position the bottom end of the tie bar that is located on the right side of the radiator. Connect the bottom end of the tie bar that is located on the right side of the radiator.

  1. Position tie bar (39) to the radiator. Install bolt (34) , two washers (35) , bushing (36) , and spacer (38) in order to connect the top end of tie bar (39) to stud (37) .

  1. Connect the top end of the tie bar that is located on the right side of the radiator.

  1. Rod end (41) will need adjustment in order to position the radiator. The radiator should be perpendicular to the machine frame. After the adjustment is made nut (40) must be tightened.

  1. Position fan guards (28) and (30) to radiator (5) . Install bolts (32) and (33) that secure fan guards (28) and (30) to radiator (5) .

  1. Install bolt (31) that secures fan guard (30) to radiator (5) .

  1. Install bolt (29) that secures fan guard (28) to radiator (5) .

  1. Install two bolts (27) that secure the fan guards to radiator (5) .

  1. Position pipe (22) and hose (25) as a unit to the machine. Connect hose (25) to radiator (5) . Install band clamp (26) in order to secure hose (25) to the radiator.

  1. Install pipe (22) in hose (24) . Install band clamp (23) in order to secure pipe (22) in hose (24) . Connect hose (21) to pipe (22) .

  1. Connect hose (19) to pipe (18) . Install band clamp (20) in order to secure hose (19) on pipe (18) .

  1. Install hose (17) to pipe (16) and pipe (18) . Tighten two band clamps (15) in order to secure hose (17) to pipe (16) and pipe (18) .

  1. Position hose (7) to the radiator shroud. Install bolt (13) and hose clamp (14) in order to secure hose (7) to the radiator shroud.

  1. Position ether aid control (9) to the radiator shroud. Install two bolts (8) in order to secure ether aid control (9) to the radiator shroud. Install two bolts (10) , the wire clips and the wires to the radiator shroud.

  1. Install retaining nut (11) in order to connect ether hose (12) to ether aid control (9) .

  1. Install retaining nut (6) in order to connect hose (7) to radiator (5) .

  1. Position drain hose (3) to drain valve (1) and bottom plate (4) . Tighten band clamp (2) in order to secure drain hose (3) to drain valve (1) .

  1. Fill the radiator with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7028 for the proper procedure.

End By:

  1. Install the refrigerant condenser. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, " Refrigerant Condenser- Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.
  2. Install the engine hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.
