During normal operation, use the engine start switch to shut down the engine. If the engine needs to be stopped quickly, use the engine shutdown control. The engine shutdown control is located above the front bumper. In order to use the engine shutdown control, raise the guard. Move the toggle switch to the OFF position. This will stop the engine. After the engine stops, lower the guard. Lowering the guard will turn the toggle switch to the ON position.

Note: The engine shutdown control does not deactivate the machine's electrical system.

The engine shutdown control does not discharge pressure from the steering accumulators. Remove the steering system pressure from the steering accumulators before doing any work on the machine. In order to remove the pressure on the steering accumulators, perform one of the following tasks:

  • Turn the steering wheel completely to the right. Turn the steering wheel completely to the left. Continue turning the steering wheel in both directions, until the front wheels will not move. This discharges the pressure in the steering accumulators.

  • Enter the cab and move the engine start switch to the OFF position.

Move the engine start switch to the OFF position and the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the keys. If the machine will be parked for an extended period of time, remove the battery disconnect switch key.
