Location of the transmission gear indicator |
Regardless of the position of the transmission control, the transmission gear indicator will display the current operating gear of the transmission. The indicator is mounted on top of the front instrument panel.
The indicator gets current through the same fuse as the Electronic Programmable Transmission Control (EPTC II). Also, there are six wires for the gears and three wires for machine identification that go from the Electronic Programmable Transmission Control (EPTC II) to the indicator. Five of the six wires for the gears provide electrical signals to the indicator. The remaining wire is a ground.
From the information that is received from the transmission switch, the EPTC II will send a signal to two of the five wires. The indicator will display the actual operating gear of the transmission.
