Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
- Open the engine hood.
- Drain water separator bowl (3) .

- Turn lock ring (1) counterclockwise.
- Remove fuel filter element (2) and water separator bowl (3) .
- Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (5) from fuel priming pump assembly (6) .

- Remove bolts (7) and fuel priming pump assembly (6) .

Installation Procedure
- Install fuel priming pump assembly (6) and bolts (7) .

- Connect hose assemblies (4) and (5) to fuel priming pump assembly (6) .

- Install fuel filter element (2) and water separator bowl (3) .

- Turn lock ring (1) clockwise.
- Tighten the drain valve on water separator bowl (3) .
- Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7018 for the correct procedure.
- Close the engine hood.
End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
