Problem:
There have been some complaints that the coolant expansion bottle, which is located under the fuel tank, is not easily accessible for coolant fill.
Solution:
The coolant expansion bottle is only used to collect coolant that would otherwise be lost in high ambient conditions, and is not an accurate measure of coolant level.
Even though the coolant expansion bottle has a fill cap, it is not the correct location to check coolant level. Rather, the O&M guide states that the low coolant level sensor and/or visual checks using the radiator cap is the correct means to determine coolant level. The radiator fill cap is the only location that should be used to add coolant to the system.
