Transmission May Shift Erractically Or Fail To Engage Certain Gears

Usage:

ARTICULATED TRUCKSD250E (5TN),
D300E (7FN),
D350E (9LR),
D400E (2YR) ARTICULATED TRUCKS

Problem:

There have been recent reports of transmissions which have shifted erratically and/or would not go into certain gears. The gears which fail to engage can vary from one machine to another.

Solution:

If the transmission of a vehicle shifts erratically or fails to shift into certain gears the torque of the 2B-2695 Bolts should be included when investigating the problem. If the bolts are loose, remove them individually together with 1T-0738 Washer. Degrease the bolt and washer with solvent, clean and dry. Apply light amounts of 9S-3263 Thread Lock to the threads of the bolt and light amounts of 7M-7260 Liquid Gasket to both faces of the washer. Install the bolt and washer and torque to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

4C-5300 or 1U-8846 Flexible Gasket Maker can be used instead of 7M-7260 Liquid Gasket.

If the bolts were loose it will be necessary to 're-time' the shift linkage.
