New High Altitude Engine Arrangements Are Available with New Low-Pressure Turbocharger {1052}

Usage:

793B (1HL),
793C (4AR, 4GZ) Off-Highway Trucks

Description of Change: New high altitude engine arrangements are available for trucks operating at altitudes above 3353 m (11,000 ft). The high altitude engine arrangements have a new low-pressure turbocharger that operates at a lower turbine speed. The lower turbine speed will increase turbocharger compressor life at higher altitudes. The new turbocharger does not require the use of a flow conditioner as used on the low altitude engine arrangements. All arrangements still derate at 3657 m (12,000 ft).

Adaptable To: New high altitude engine arrangements are available for the above machines. Chart A lists the effectivity of the new engine arrangements. The high altitude engine arrangements have a new low-pressure 149-9284 Turbocharger that operates at a lower turbine speed. The 149-9284 Turbocharger does not require the use of the 159-6076 Flow Conditioner used on the low altitude arrangements.

There is no remanufactured turbocharger available for the 149-9284 Turbocharger.
