Clips Available For Attaching Vinyl And Fabric Covering To Seat {7307}

Metal clips are used in manufacturing to fasten the vinyl or fabric covering to the seat cushion and the back cushion. See Illustration 1.

Five 174-8826 Clips (1) are installed by the manufacturer on each seat cushion and each back cushion as shown in Illustration 2. The clips are installed over the vinyl or fabric covering at the edge of the metal pan and crimped with pliers. The trim is then installed to conceal the clips and to help secure the covering.

The 174-8826 Clips are available as service parts should additional or repair parts be needed. See Table 1.

To install the 174-8826 Clips as replacement or additional clips, perform the following steps:

1. Remove the 4V-8579 Clip (3) that secures the ends of the edge strip (2).

NOTE: On the back cushion, the 4V-8579 Clip (3) is located at the bottom of the cushion. On the seat cushion, the 4V-8579 Clip (3) is located at the rear of the cushion.

2. Remove the 9X-2092 Edge Strip (2) from around the cushion.

3. Install the 174-8826 Clip (1) by placing the clip over the vinyl or fabric covering (4) at the edge of the metal pan (5). See Illustration 3.

4. Crimp the wings of clip (1) with pliers to secure the clip in position.

5. Reinstall the 9X-2092 Edge Strip (2) around the edge of the cushion.

NOTE: On the back cushion, install the edge strip so that the ends meet at the bottom of the cushion. On the seat cushion, install the edge strip so that the ends meet at the rear of the cushion.

6. Reinstall the 4V-8579 Clip (3) at the position where the ends of the edge strip meet.
