A new serviceable Cover Group-Protection covering is now available to cover the main harness leading to the console on asphalt pavers.

Disassembly

1. Open rear door to operators console, locate seven harness connectors to the center of console, six of the connectors are mounted to the connector plate. Number reference the male and female side to each connector.

2. Unplug all seven harness connectors.

3. Remove brake pedal cover plate located below rear console door.

4. Unplug brake pedal harness connector.

5. Remove the four 3/4 inch mounting bolts securing the operators console.

6. Carefully remove the operators console keeping in mind to feed the brake pedal harness out of the way.

7. Remove long floor tread plate (8 foot machines: 108-7854, 10 foot machines: 129-5057) which covers fittings and existing cover group.

8. By viewing the platform top, locate the four mounting bolts securing the female mounting bracket for the cover group. Remove bolts.

9. Carefully remove the cover group/harness from the platform keeping in mind to feed the connectors out of the way. Rest the cover group on walkway.


(1) Drop off edge location. Cut length of cover group in direction of dotted arrow using procedure below.

10. With the cover group resting flat on the walkway, view routing of harness/hoses prior to cutting cover group. Caution: With cut-off tool, carefully follow drop off edge of cover group the full length. (You will roughly cut 1/8 inch deep.)

11. Once tube is cut, pry cut edge up. This will break cover plate exposing harness, etc. Remove cover group from harness. It will be necessary to remove two mounting bolts (2) securing cover group bracket to frame.

Assembly

1. Remove the male and female bracket ends (3) from new cover group.

2. Align male bracket with left mounting hole (4) (frame/floor) and mark position for right mounting hole.

3. Drill new hole and tap for 5/16-18-3/4 Bolt (4M-0061).

4. With standard screwdriver, remove cover plates (5) by prying tab up and out.

5. Align harness into cover group and close with cover plates. (Be sure center separator clips (6) are secure.)

NOTE: The cover plates should be facing down towards the floor.

6. Reinstall male bracket on to cover group and secure to frame with 4M-0061 Bolts and 8T-4224 Washers.

7. Install floor plate (7) (8 foot machines: 108-7854, 10 foot machines: 129-5057).

8. Install 173-2661 Plate (Cover) and spot weld two places on both sides of floor plate.

9. Align female bracket inside operator's console. Center bracket between previous mounting holes (8). Mark hole locations. Note: Be sure reverse side of female bracket matches slide console cut out.

10. Drill holes.

11. Install female bracket onto gore tube.

12. Carefully feed harness/gore tube into console through cut out.

13. Secure female bracket with 8T-8908 Bolt, 8T-4205 Washer, and 6V-8185 Nut.

14. Install operator's console with 3/4 inch mounting bolts, keeping in mind to feed brake pedal harness/connectors carefully.

15. Locate number referenced connectors and plug in.

16. Plug in brake pedal harness and install cover plate.

17. Close rear operator console door.
