Adding Plug And Breather Extends Service Life Of Drum Eccentric Bearings By Reducing Contamination {6605}

Usage:

CS/CP-323 (1TM, 6JD) Vibratory Compactor

Reference: Service Manual KEBR2369 for drum removal and D&A.

Description of Change: Adding a plug and breather to existing holes on CS/CP-323 Drum Eccentric Weight Housing reduces contamination of the housing, extending the service life of eccentric weight bearings.

Adaptable To: CS/CP-323 (1TM1-Up), (6JD1-Up).

Rework Procedure: Remove drum per D&A. Disassemble drive side and gain access to the eccentric 7R-6453 Eccentric Weight Housing. Make sure the existing hole on the outer diameter of the eccentric housing is drilled to (11/32 in.). Tap hole (1) to 1/8-27 NPTF and install 9F-2247 Plug in this hole. Drill the existing hole at the center of the housing to (11/32 in.), tap hole (2) to 1/8-27 NPTF and install 6U-1989 Breather Pin in this hole. Reassemble and install drum.

NOTE: When drilling and tapping holes, use care to avoid introducing shavings into the eccentric weight housing.
