Description of Change: A new method is being used to retain the insulation to the inside of the cab door. The former method used adhesive to hold the insulation in place. The new method uses angles and a new door cover to hold the insulation in place.
Adaptable To: The new angles, part of the 7U-9254 Door Assembly, and improved 7U-9219 Cover Plate, part of the 7U-9253 Cab Door Group, are in effect with D25D (1HK471-Up), D30D (3AJ337-Up, 1PK35-Up), D40D (2JJ102-Up), D350D (9RF453-Up) and D400D (8TF866-Up, 4EJ21-Up) Articulated Trucks. The new method of retaining the door insulation can be installed on earlier machines.
Use the following method to install the new angle brackets and 7U-9219 Cover Plate to earlier machines.
Illustration 1. Dimensions For Angle (1).
Illustration 2. Dimensions For Angle (2).
1. Fabricate the angle brackets (1 and 2) using the dimensions given in the illustrations and charts. Fabricate angles (1 and 2) from 1.6 mm (.06 in) thick mild steel.
2. Weld the fabricated angles (1 and 2) to the inside of the cab door as shown in Illustration 3. All straight welds have a 3.0 mm (.12 in) weld bead. The holes in the fabricated angles (1 and 2) are filled with a 2.0 mm (.08 in) plug weld.
3. Paint the door after the welding is completed.
4. Install the insulation and 7U-9219 Cover Plate (3).
