Usage:
Start By:
a. remove turbocharger *
*Removal of the turbocharger is necessary for service of the right valve cover.
1. Remove tube (1).
2. Remove breather (2).
3. Remove valve cover (3).
NOTE: The following steps are for removal of the left valve cover.
4. Disconnect tachometer cable (4) at the tachometer drive.
5. Disconnect governor air hose (6) at the control cylinder.
6. Remove support (5) and oil filler tube (7).
7. Remove tube (8), hose (9) and breather (10).
8. Remove valve cover (11).
9. Remove the seal from each valve cover.
NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the valve covers.
10. Install a new seal in each valve cover.
11. Install valve covers (3) and (11) in their original position.
12. Tighten the valve cover bolts in the sequence shown to a torque of 9.6 to 17.6 N·m (7 to 13 lb ft).
13. Put clean engine oil on the seals in breathers (2) and (10), and install them in the valve covers.
14. Install the clamps for the breathers, and tighten them to a torque of 4 to 5 N·m (35 to 45 lb in).
15. Complete the installation.
