Usage:
Start By:
a. remove rear axle housing group (oscillating)
1. Remove bolts (2) and cover (3) from rear support (1). For assembly purposes, the torque for the bolts holding cover (2) is 270 ± 40 N·m (200 ± 30 lb ft).
2. Remove thrust washer (4), four bolts (6), and plate (5) from the end of the trunnion. For assembly purposes, the torque for bolts (6) is 570 ± 80 N·m (420 ± 60 lb ft).
3. Remove the remaining thrust washer (7).
4. Fasten a lifting strap to rear support (1) as shown and remove it. The weight of the rear support is 45 kg (100 lb).
5. Remove lip seal (8).
6. Use Tooling (A) to remove sleeve bearing (9) from rear support (1).
7. Remove twelve bolts (11) and trunnion (10). The weight of the trunnion is 20 kg (45 lb).
NOTE: The following steps are for the assembling of the rear axle support.
8. Put 6V-6640 Gasket Maker on the mating surfaces of trunnion (10) and the oscillating housing assembly. Put the trunnion assembly in position on the oscillating housing assembly and install twelve bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft).
9. Use Tool (A) and a press to install sleeve bearing (9) into support (1).
Typical Example
10. Use Tool (A) to install seal (8) into support (1). Make sure the seal is installed with the lip of the seal facing toward the outside of support (1) as shown.
11. Use a hoist and lifting strap to install support (1) on trunnion (10).
12. Reverse the procedures and steps 1 through 3 to complete assembly of the rear oscillating housing support.
