1. Remove five bolts (1) and guard (2) from each side of the rear axle.
2. Disconnect electrical connector (3) from the traction aid sensor on each side of the rear axle.
3. Support bottom guard (5) with floor jack as shown. Remove bolts (4) and bottom guard (5).
4. Fasten a lifting sling to each side of the rear axle housing group. Fasten a hoist to both lifting slings.
5. Disconnect tube (6) from the rear axle housing group. Remove four bolts (7) that hold the rear support (rear) to the frame of the machine.
6. Disconnect tube (8). Remove four bolts (9) that hold the rear support (front) to the frame of the machine.
7. Fasten a suitable retainer around the axle, front support (11) and yoke (12) to prevent the support and the yoke from falling as the axel is removed. Disconnect two hydraulic hose assemblies (10).
8. Lower the rear axle housing group evenly, so that the dowel does not bind and prevent lowering of the rear axle housing group. The weight of the rear axle housing group is approximately 908 kg (2000 lb).
NOTE: Install the rear axle housing group (oscillating) in the reverse order of removal.
9. When installing four bolts (7) and four bolts (9) that hold the front and rear supports for the rear axle housing group to the frame tighten the bolts to a torque of 1000 ± 125 N·m (740 ± 93 lb ft).
