416B, 426B, 428B, 436B & 438B BACKHOE LOADERS POWER TRAIN Caterpillar

1. Raise the rear of the machine, and put tool (A) in a safe position underneath the rear of the machine.

2. Remove all but one of the mounting nuts and washers that fasten rear wheel (1) to the rear axle.

3. Put a lift truck in position under the rear tire and wheel. Remove the one remaining mounting nut and washer, and use tool (B) to pull rear tire and wheel (1) from the rear axle studs. Weight of the rear tire and wheel is 150 kg (330 lb).

NOTE: Upon installation of the rear tire and wheel, tighten the mounting nuts (1) in Step 2 to a torque of 475 ± 40 N·m (350 ± 30 lb ft).
