Oil Cooler (Brakesaver)

Usage:

Remove Oil Cooler (Brakesaver)

1. Drain the coolant and oil from the engine.

2. Remove oil inlet line (7) and oil outlet line (8) from the oil cooler.

3. Remove bolt (2) from the clamp and the bonnet.

4. Remove the bolts and nuts from front bonnet (6).

NOTE: Water pump cover (4) and its bolts must be loosened to get access to all of the front bonnet bolts.

5. Remove the bolts from rear bonnet (1).

6. Fasten a hoist to the oil cooler.

7. Remove the two bolts from plate (5) and two bolts (3) from the oil cooler and its support.

8. Remove the oil cooler from the engine. Remove the gasket and orifice that is between the rear bonnet and the engine block. The weight of the oil cooler and bonnets is 110 lb. (50 kg).

9. Make a separation of the front bonnet, the rear bonnet and pipe (9) from the oil cooler.

10. Make an inspection of all the O-ring seals on the bonnet and on the pipe. Make a replacement of the O-ring seals if there is wear or damage.

11. Clean cooler core tubes (10) with .171 in. (4.34 mm) diameter rod.

Install Oil Cooler (Brakesaver)

1. Put clean engine oil on all of the O-ring seals.

2. Connect front bonnet (2), rear bonnets (3) and pipe (1) to the oil cooler.

3. Fasten a hoist and put the oil cooler and bonnets as a unit in position on the engine. Put the gasket and orifice in place between the bonnet and the engine block.

4. Install the bolts that hold the oil cooler to engine support (5) and to flywheel housing support plate (6).

5. Install the gasket and bolts to the front bonnet and the water pump. Tighten the bolts that hold the water pump cover (7).

6. Install the bolts in the rear bonnet and the bolt that holds clamp (4) to the bonnet.

7. Install the bolts that hold oil inlet line (8) and oil outlet line (9) to the oil cooler.
