Oil Cooler

Usage:

Remove Oil Cooler

NOTE: Oil cooler bypass valve can be removed without removal of oil cooler.

1. Drain the oil and the coolant from engine oil cooler (4).

2. Remove oil gauge tube (5), bolt and clamp (3) from bonnet (2).

3. Remove bolts (1) that hold the bonnet in position. Remove the bonnet.

4. Remove the two gaskets and orifice that are between the bonnet and cylinder block. Remove the O-ring seal from the bonnet.

5. Remove the bolts (8) from elbow.

6. Remove the bolts (7) from valve body.

7. Remove the engine oil cooler and the adapter from bonnet (6).

8. Remove adapter (10) from the engine oil cooler.

9. Remove O-ring seals (9) from the adapter.

10. Clean the tube bundles in the engine oil cooler with a .125 in. (3.2 mm) diameter rod used as shown.

Install Oil Cooler

1. Install the O-ring seals on the adapter. Put clean SAE 30 oil on O-ring seals of the adapter and on the seal of the valve body and elbow (5).

2. Install adapter (1) in oil cooler (3). Put the oil cooler in position in bonnet (2) and on the elbow and valve body (4).

3. Install the bolts that hold the oil cooler to the valve body and the elbow.

4. Install the O-ring seal on bonner (9). Put clean SAE 30 engine oil on the seal.

5. Put the bonnet in position in the oil cooler. Put gasket (6), orifice (8) and gasket (6) in position between the bonnet and the engine. Install the bolts that hold the bonnet.

6. Install the oil gauge tube, clamp and bolt (7) to the bonnet.
