Axles (Rear)

Usage:

Remove Axles (Rear)

1. Put the wheel in position so drain plug (3) in the final drive cover is down. Drain the final drive.

2. Remove nuts (1) that hold final drive cover (2) to the final drive housing.

3. Install three 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws (4) in the final drive cover. Tighten the forcing screws evenly to loosen the final drive cover from the final drive housing. Remove final drive cover (2).

4. Remove O-ring seal (9) from the final drive housing.

5. Install 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolt (8) in the end of axle (5). Pull the axle out part of the way, and fasten a hoist to the axle. Use the hoist, and remove the axle. The weight of the axle is 61 kg (135 lb.).

6. Remove ring (7), gear (10) and washer (6) from the axle.

Install Axles (Rear)

1. Fasten a hoist to axle (1), and put the axle in position in the final drive housing.

2. Use tool (A) to install the axle into the splines in the differential.

3. Put washer (3) and gear (2) in position on the axle. Align gear (2) with the gears in the final drive, and push the gear and axle into the differential. Install the ring that holds gear (2) on the axle.

4. Put O-ring seal (4) in position on the final drive housing.

5. Make sure that flat surfaces of shafts (3) are facing outward.

6. Align fill plug hole (6) in the final drive cover with the hole in the final drive housing, and install the final drive cover (5) and the nuts that hold it to the final drive housing.

7. Install drain plug (7).

8. Fill the final drive with oil to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.
