Introduction
The 9W3529, 9W3530 and 9W3531 Speedometers are the Service replacement for 7N1287, 7N6951, and 7N6952 Speedometers respectively.
Removal Of Former Speedometer
1. Disconnect the black (-) ground wire from the stud on the speedometer bracket. This is the ground wire for the speedometer lamp.
2. Remove the speedometer, disconnect the black (-) ground wire, the orange (+) wire, the tan/white signal wire and the lamp terminal. Cut the tan/white wire as close as possible to the braided harness.
Installation of Replacement Speedometer
1. Connect the orange (+) wire to positive (+) terminal (1). Connect the black (-) ground wire to negative (-) terminal (2). Connect the two #6 ring terminals on one end of the short 8T8618 Harness to two signal terminals (3), one ring terminal to each signal terminal.
2. Plug in the lamp terminal. Reconnect the black (-) ground wire to the speedometer bracket.
3. Attach 8T8618 Harness (which has a 2-pin Sure-Seal plug at the other end) to the existing vehicle harness with the enclosed 3S2093 Straps. The vehicle harness runs from the dash to the side wall of the cab.
4. If it is necessary to route the 8T8618 Harness outside the cab, use a suitable hole in the bulkhead. If no suitable hole exists, drill a 25mm (1") hole. Install the enclosed 5H9743 Grommet into the hole to protect the harness.
5. The long 8T8617 Harness has a 2-pin Sure-Seal receptacle at one end. Plug the 8T8618 Harness into the 8T8617 Harness. Attach the 8T8617 Harness to the existing vehicle harness with 3S2093 Straps.
6. The magnetic pickup is located on the bottom of the governor front cover. Remove the existing ring terminals from the magnetic pickup stud terminals. Remove the ring terminals from the tan/white wire and from the black wire of the existing harness. Cut the tan/white wire and the black wire as close as possible to the braided harness.
7. Connect the #8 ring terminals of the 8T8617 Harness to the stud terminals on the magnetic pickup, one ring terminal to each stud terminal.
