Disconnected Air Cleaner Hose Can Cause Engine Damage

Usage:


Ford L-Series Trucks Equipped With 3208 Caterpillar Engines

The connector hose between the air cleaner assembly and the inlet manifold air horn can become disconnected on Ford L-Series Trucks with 3208 Caterpillar Engines. A disconnected hose will let dirt get into the air inlet system and cause engine failures. To prevent this problem install D8HZ-9B613-AC Hump Hose, which is available from the Ford Motor Company.

Install the hump hose as follows (see illustration):

1. Assemble the hump hose on the air cleaner until the hose contacts the air cleaner body. Install and tighten the hose clamp.

2. Install the aluminum tube into the hump hose and the existing elbow hose. Install and tighten the hose clamps.

NOTE: Turn the elbow hose and air inlet elbow as needed for installation.
